(…) I have availed myself of the assistance of Mr Łukasz Gos-Furmankiewicz for several years. The into-English translations and proofreading concerned my academic publications in the fields of constitutional law and theory of law. The articles and glosses [commentaries on court judgments] Mr Ł. Gos-Furmankiewicz translated or edited explored specialist legal issues and put on the translator a demand for in-depth substantive knowledge and feel of the convention of the relevant academic discipline. I submitted all of the texts to foreign journals indexed in international databases, with conscientious publication procedures and high requirements of style and editing (such as the Utrecht Law Review). The quality was not allowed to fall short of the level guaranteed by a competent native speaker.

Mr Ł. Gos-Furmankiewicz independently solved all terminological and conceptual problems. He proposed phrasing that was often more fitting than my own initial suggestions. He had an excellent command of the so-called academic style, and —— when so required by context — consistently and with good feel applied such language convention as was closer to legal practice. The translations were fluent, stylistically harmonized, well-thought and above all communicative, which is very difficult for a publication about Polish law targeting a foreign audience. That was the product of the translator's great legal awareness and enormous substantive knowledge of domestic and foreign legal systems, or the ability to find such knowledge quickly.

The editing boards of the journals to which I sent the texts translated by Mr Ł. Gos-Furmankiewicz did not report any linguistic issues or request verification by a native speaker. Previously, by contrast, it had happened regularly with (…) translations done by other professional translators whose services I had been using. The translation work of Mr Ł. Gos-Furmankiewicz confidently achieves distinction, meeting the highest substantive and stylistic standards. (…)
